Wishing Tony a Very Happy Birthday!
Tony Chytka combines his love for rodeo with art to create unique bronze sculptures that replicate the rodeo lifestyle.
Chytka was born on February 28, 1954, and grew up in Yankton. He spent much of his early life around the rodeo, joining the Little Britches group as a young boy. Throughout high school and college, Chytka participated in rodeos and it is that hands-on experience that gives the artist a grasp for the smallest of details.
Chytka has exhibited his work at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City and the Calgary Stampede, among others. Since 1978, Wrangler has commissioned Chytka to sculpt a figure of their champion Bullfighter of the Year and he has done similar commissions commemorating Coors’ Rodeo Clown Barrelman of the Year and figures for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. Chytka was a founding member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Artists Group and his work has been displayed at the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.
